IP Nerves prison communication system supports inmate management, central control and monitoring and visitor communication. In-cell intercom terminals provide high quality audio communication, calling to and from central control rooms. The system provides features such as audio covert monitoring, public address, tamper detection, audio self-testing and reporting functions. The system also offers redundancy ensuring continued, reliable communication 24/7.
CORRECTIVE FACILITIES
The responsibility of corrective facilities is to maintain appropriate inmate security while focusing on the rehabilitation of offenders as they begin to integrate back into the community. Implementing rehabilitation services whilst maintaining maximum security can be contradictory, however, IP Nerves’ Communications System provides high level security with the advantage of flexible features to meet a wide range of requirements. IP Nerves’ Communication system offers intercom terminals, Public Address (PA), access control, non-contact visitor communication and integration into third party infrastructure.
POLICE STATIONS
IP Nerves’ system is ideal for small to large police stations which encompass a number of holding cells. The intercom terminals provide user-friendly, hands free operation once a call is connected, which can withstand the conditions of these harsh environments. Additionally, intercom relays allow police to unlock doors and gates from the intercom terminal. Police, staff and prisoners can easily communicate while keeping a safe distance through IP Nerves weather and vandal resistant intercom terminals.

SUPPORTED INTEGRATION
IP Nerves IP communication system integrate via high level interface to a large number of industry recognised partners. Integration with building and security, CCTV, telephony and access control systems ensure a complete security solution.
CENTRAL CONTROL & MONITORING
The system provides specialised call handling to & from multiple control rooms via hierarchical and/or peer to peer predefined structures. The PC master station with graphical user interface is specifically designed for the corrective services environment, ensuring hassle-free system operation. Calls can be transferred between master stations while auto remote configuration ensures unattended master stations will transfer calls to other master stations.
RELAY MODULES
The system is configurable to allow for the triggering of events in conjunction with an action performed in the intercom system. Event triggers include (but are not limited to) CCTV switching, light on/off switching, door/gate/boom gate release, pre-recorded message announcements, night switching (call diversion relating to hierarchy, based on time of day) and bell or warning alarm scheduling.
RECORDING
The system shall interface call audio to third party recording devices including digital, SIP or analogue devices. Recording output is provided for at least 32 simultaneous conversations. The system also supports exporting of intercom call audio and creating of an event trigger to a 3rd party system when a call is generated. The audio can then be recorded by a CCTV camera associated with the intercom.
COVERT MONITORING
The system features advanced covert monitoring capabilities whereby a master station with the appropriate permissions can covertly monitor (listen to) audio from any intercom terminal. While operating covertly the system disables any call-connected notifications (eg. Call LED) at the intercom terminal while restricting any audio from being transmitted to the intercom terminal allowing for optimal audio monitoring.
SELF-TESTING BUTTON
The Self-Testing Button (STB) is a highly reliable pushbutton featuring an inbuilt self-test function, known as IBST. The testable button switch contains a built-in actuator which triggers a button press remotely and thus tests the operation of the button. With a STB there is no need for a technician to enter a cell to test the intercom manually, so safety is maintained. We have tested the STB for over a million pushes and with the IP Nerves system a prison with a 1000+ intercoms can be tested in just 10 minutes.
ACOUSTIC ECHO CANCELLATION
The system provides an acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) engine when used in full duplex mode to significantly reduce unwanted interference from acoustic reflections and feedback.
ISOLATE NUISANCE CALLERS
Ability to isolate calls from nuisance callers who may continue to press the intercom call button. Isolated calls can be manually deisolated or a global time-out can be configured.
THRESHOLD ALARM MONITORING
The system provides threshold monitoring whereby a call is automatically connected to or an alarm notification is activated should a predetermined ambient noise level be exceeded at any configured intercom endpoint.
CALL PRIORITISATION
Priority queuing of calls allows the system to identify and prioritise calls from predetermined important, high risk or danger areas ensuring communication lines from caller to central control are handled with precedence. 256 call priority levels are available.
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFIC FEATURES
All prison intercom terminals are robust, water protected & vandal resistant. They are designed to withstand harsh prison environments and continuous usage. They perform continuous tamper detection, integrity and diagnostic testing. To further enhance reliability of the call button, prison intercom terminals can be equipped with self-testing buttons whereby the system automatically tests terminal buttons, guaranteeing their reliability.
SYSTEM REDUNDANCY
Prisons & secure facilities depend on system reliability. IP Nerves systems featuring redundant and distributor server frameworks that limit single points of failure, ensuring system robustness and site-wide reliability.

CELL TO CELL COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS
IP Nerves Cell to Cell Communication system allows prisoners in solitary confinement to speak with each other via the intercom terminals in their cells. Cell to Cell communication has been designed to maintain the personal welfare of maximum security prisoners that are mostly confined to their cells.
